SEPTEMBER 2021 UPDATE

RECALL INFORMATION:

Please be aware that the Boppy Pillow Recliner has been recalled.   See the attached link:

The Boppy Company Recalls Newborn Loungers After Infant Deaths

This is not the traditional breastfeeding pillow.  This is a great time to remind everyone of safe sleep practices for infants.  Infants should be placed on their back on a firm mattress covered with a fitted sheet. Nothing else should be in the crib or bassinette with them. They should not sleep anywhere other than a crib or bassinette.

SCHOOL IS BACK IN SESSION:

We are thrilled that our patients are back to school! The children have been doing a great job wearing their masks.  This will continue to prevent the spread of COVID especially within the school walls.   It is important to be vigilant when your children are outside of school with potential exposures to COVID.  Use your best judgement but realize the Delta variant is much more contagious than the original novel strain and the variants prior to Delta.

As reminder to our parents and other drivers, keep alert for kids crossing the street during the morning and afternoon hours.  Keep an eye out for the flashing lights and stop signs of the school buses.

ON THE HORIZON:

We have done our best to keep our staff, patients and families safe from contracting COVID in our office.  This has been done through changes in our scheduling practices.  We have been requesting individuals with suspected COVID symptoms to get PCR tested prior to their visit.  We understand our parents’ frustration, and ask for your patience for a little bit longer.  We are in the process of obtaining the CEPHEID system which will allow us to test for COVID, Flu and RSV on site.  We will need to figure out a new workflow that continues to protect our patients and our staff.

PFIZER VACCINE EMERGENCY USE APPROVAL FOR 5 to 11 year olds:

As you may have heard, Pfizer has submitted data to the FDA regarding the effectiveness of the COVID vaccine in 5 to 11 year old children.  They are seeking Emergency Use Approval.  There is a push for pediatricians to be the administrators of the vaccine.  We will keep you posted as to its approval and if we will be able to provide it for our patients.
