HALLOWEEN 2022

Happy Halloween to all our patients and families! We hope you are planning to have a fun time with your little ghosts, goblins, and ghouls as you trick or treat, attend school celebrations or other parties. We love this time of year but wanted to send out a few quick safety reminders for the trick or treat trail.

Always accompany young children on the trick or treat trail and only go to homes with a porch light on. Stay in a group and communicate where you’ll be going. Use reflective tape on costumes or trick or treat bags to reduce the chances of pedestrian injury. Keep an eye on what your child has in their mouths at all times while on the trick or treat trail. Wait until you are home to sort and check treats. Tampering is very rare but can happen so throw out any unwrapped or suspicious looking treats. Of course, pay special attention to your child’s food allergies. Babies, toddlers and young children should not have hard candies, popcorn, gum, nuts or other choking hazards. Try to ration candy in the days after Halloween. Come up with a plan with your child beforehand.  If you keep the candy guidelines consistent, realistic, and positive, your Halloween will be less stressful!

From all of us at Branford Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, have a happy, safe, and spooky Halloween!
